If you're using a slideshow as wallpaper or in a photo frame widget, then 
you're hitting https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=368838. If so, try running 
plasmashell with "QSG_RENDER_LOOP=threaded" and see if that fixes the issue 
(and let us know if it does!).
