Hi, one of the KDE Goals (KDE Needs You) is to gather more contributors. One step for this is to participate to more programs where we can attract new people. In order to gather the projects ideas, we have created this page: https://community.kde.org/2026. As there can be multiple programs at the same time and it can be complicated to fill multiple pages, the idea behind this page is to have a unique entry point on where to write the ideas and from this, mentors can select for which program their project applies (either due to duration, incompatible dates...).
If you have ideas for either the Season of KDE and the KUOSC program (see https://mail.kde.org/pipermail/kde-community/2025q4/008308.html), please fill the page before December 31th. For Season of KDE, it will be like previous years, the coding period is 2 months (timeline: https://mentorship.kde.org/sok/), feel free to add projects that can be done alone or in group and there is no limitation on the topics as lons as it helps KDE (could be translation, code, documentation...). For KUOSC, it's the first time we are organizing it: for the next 30 days, students will start contributing to KDE projects on their own (so please welcome them properly :)). Then, between mid January and mid February, they will be working on specific projects either alone or as a group like Season of KDE. The topics are code and documentation. Unfortunately, GSoC needs to have its own page because we need to provide a clear page with its ideas and mixing it with other programs can be more complicated: https://community.kde.org/GSoC/2026/Ideas. We need to have ideas for GSoC before January 30th, so please start to discuss among your teams about what could be good ideas! (timeline: https://developers.google.com/open-source/gsoc/timeline) So the actions for people are: * GSoC - fill the page for projects before January 30th: https://community.kde.org/GSoC/2026/Ideas * SoK / KUOSC - fill before the December 31st: https://community.kde.org/2026 * if you have bugs/issues that would be good as "first good issue", please add the Keywords "junior-jobs" in bugs.kde.org, it will allow to filter them via https://bugs.kde.org/buglist.cgi?keywords=junior-jobs and newcomers will be able to have a starting point. Cheers, Johnny
