I can live with no KMail, oddly, as I did use KMail as my MUA for about 3-4 years. These days I'm using Alpine though, so as long as Konsole works I can get mail. Konsole was definitely one of the pieces I noticed performance. > By now, the existence of specfiles and a straightforward dependency tree > should make it a lot easier. I would like to help if I can, and I installed Linux to compare it to, and also installed and compared it on FreeBSD. I would say that some things seem slow on those platforms also, just not as bad as Solaris. Primarily I need to get KDE running on OpenSolaris, and you can have a UTF-8 locale on OpenSolaris now. I think it's time to move over to OpenSolaris, at some point you need to leave the past behind...I'm in the middle of moving over myself...and it means some pain...but I'm gonna bite the bullet... -- Alan DuBoff - Solaris x86 IHV/OEM Group
