Supporting the least common denominator helps flush out strange bugs when porting and makes us sane people happy.
I think both distributions of binaries should be available in addition to patches and build scripts. I will contribute my own findings with provided material for QA purposes once someone can put out an almost completely buildable set of patches for KDE 3.5.x current. (As for 4.x it's not ready for primetime) James
