As Stefan says, it might be better to ask on the blastwave lists. I'm not 
aware of any regular effort on *this* list to keep up with KDE3; it's mostly 
KDE4-oriented.

Sounds like a HAL or DBUS (oh, wait .. KDE3 :) ) issue, but it's quite 
possible that those features are turned off on Solaris because they didn't 
work or haven't worked. Take mouse cursor themes, for instance.
