Dillon, our x4600 "big iron" for KDE4 development under OpenSolaris [and if
you need an account, you send me or Stefan T. mail saying you want one] has
had vncserver installed. To access the vncserver, you have to set up an SSH
tunnel from localhost through mulder (the gateway machine at SUN Netherlands)
to dillon, then point your vnc viewer to localhost. It works quite well
across low-end DSL.
The upshot of this is that you can now try to run KDE4 on the big machine and
use it as a desktop. As detailed elsewhere, it doesn't work. However, this
does mean a big move forward for development speed because you can gmake -j16
and mean it; small debugging changes are dealt with quickly.
There are no zones on Dillon yet for whatever experiments you might want to
perform. I can set them up if you explain how.
