so I gave the nightly build script a try and it works quite smoothly.

The only problem now is that it does not have a feature to apply patches after 
svn checkout - build-breaking bug probably does not have a long lifespan on 
linux so it makes sense there, but we have a few patches that were reported 
upstream months ago without a response.

So there's two solutions  - enhance the scripts or push harder the existing 40 
bugs. or both :-)
