All,

it's been a while since I tried KDE, so yesterday I tried again and I must
say I'm impressed, in fact so much that I've switched back to KDE! I even
got round the issue with font sizes that was annoying me last, so it's
getting better and better!

Here's a few things I noticed which I have not been able to fix/find the
explanation for, and where I'd be grateful for hints/advice/RTFMs etc.:

- whenever I start an xterm from the "run command" button, its working
directory is ~/Documents. I have not been able to detect where this is set.
It's not a setting specific to xterm, though: when I do look at 'pwdx
<$pid>' for all "my" processes, the one with the lowest pid whose $cwd is
~/Documents is "kdeinit4 +kcminit_startup" which is a child of another
with the same name.

- I have yet to find a way to place an icon in the panel that runs any
application I want on mouse-click - this used to work wonderfully in KDE3
(and one of the few things that gnome can do nicely too), so it's probably
there, but I can't find it.

- how can I get the middle mouse button to display a window list in the
root menu? this also works wonderfully in KDE3, and is one of the reasons I
still use KDE3 on my main VNC server on SWAN ...

TIA
Michael
