I had to rebuild KDElibs without stripping (why do we strip them after all?) 
but couldn't find any m_data reference there (I was able to find others, so I 
am quite sure I did not miss anything), so it got probably optimized-out.
Since upstream was so kind as to accept our patch I stopped investigating.
