Hmm, I'd expect qt-gtk-engine to use the gtk2 that is already present on the 
system, as you'd likely be running gtk2 apps coming from the system. 

Updating all desktop packages would be way beyond the scope of this project and 
perhaps better suited to SFE.

I think the other gtk dependency we have comes from FOSSlame, which should be 
relatively easy to get rid of by properly configuring the lame build.
