Lauri, Okay, I fixed the problem in French, Slovenian and Xhosa. To give you an idea of the extent of the damage : Before renaming, in French : [eric at ns koffice]$ cvs up -r 1.11 kword_kwordguides3b.po P kword_kwordguides3b.po [eric at ns koffice]$ msgfmt --statistics kword_kwordguides3b.po 182 translated messages. [eric at ns koffice]$ cvs up -r 1.5 kword_kwordguides3c.po P kword_kwordguides3c.po [eric at ns koffice]$ msgfmt --statistics kword_kwordguides3c.po 106 translated messages. After renaming, in French : [eric at ns koffice]$ cvs up -dPA kword_kwordguides3b.po P kword_kwordguides3b.po [eric at ns koffice]$ msgfmt --statistics kword_kwordguides3b.po 0 translated messages, 9 fuzzy translations, 81 untranslated messages. [eric at ns koffice]$ cvs up -dPA kword_kwordguides3c.po P kword_kwordguides3c.po [eric at ns koffice]$ msgfmt --statistics kword_kwordguides3c.po 0 translated messages, 4 fuzzy translations, 33 untranslated messages. So as you can see, 275 translated messages had been lost and 13 made fuzzy because of this renaming, and only in French! It is legal to rename docs, but only when renaming the translations and the templates as well.
