I've made some improvements to the default dblatex styling. At the moment, the changes are just my first attempt to make the output look more like that of db2latex. I think it's mostly correct. You can see an example here: http://users.ox.ac.uk/~chri1802/kde/pdf-stuff/konq-dblatex.pdf
Some outstanding issues: * Admonitions (note, warning, tip, etc) could be improved. Not only do they not seem visually appealing (to me at least), they seem to take up more space than they need for the text they contain. Suggestions? * Title page could be too. * The size of the textarea can be improved. I'll look into this a bit more - I think there are some defaults that Matthias Pospiech suggested which will help. * Abstracts on their own page seem odd. Could they be included in the title page, or should they just be turned off? * Authors, dates and revision info aren't handled tidily by dblatex. I'll work on this. (* Some images are oversized. I'm working on it.) There are no doubt many others. Please suggest anything that you think would make the output look more clean, polished and distinctive.
