I also suggested the idea of an "About Plasma" dialog at VDG some time ago: 
https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=285&t=128873. As a start, it could be 
added to the desktop context menu or the Plasma "burger" menu.

I remember taking part in a thread where someone suggested (maybe you, Martin) 
that it would be good to have a tray icon that gives visible access to KWin's 
plugin functions (like zoom etc.). This would make those features better 
discoverable and gives the possibility to also add the "About KWin" dialog 
(which would include a Donate button).
