ISTR that KDE 3.4 claims to take advantage of that new -fvisibility stuff in GCC 4.0. If that's true under FreeBSD, and if we have a GCC 4.0 port, would it be possible to build KDE with GCC 4.0 and see those speedups? This would only be if a certain flag was added to make.conf, of course. :)
