What I've done is to create a mount point inside the user's home 
directory. Then I created an CD "icon" (create new -> link to device) 
in the normal way. You'll have to edit the file by hand, as it won't 
let you enter "custom" mount points. It's not fully automatic, as you 
still need to click on the icon to mount/open the directory, but it 
works well for me. I'm attaching my DVD desktop file, if it helps.

p.s. There is the automount method, but it's not for the faint of heart.
