I having some trouble getting the "Switch User" command to work from
the "K" menu.

I am able to use the "Switch User" command to start a new session and
log in as a different user. (I have modified the kdmrc file to add a
few ReserveServers so this will work). However, if I then try to use
"Switch User" to switch back to the first session, nothing happens. I
mean nothing -- no error message, no activity of any kind. I also
haven't been able to find a log message that gets generated (though
I'm not certain that I've looked in all the right places).

The odd thing is that I can successfully switch sessions using the
CTRL -- ALT -- FUNCTIONKEY approach -- that works quite well. Also, if
I log out of one session, the other session will become active again.

If I use StaticServers in kdmrc (instead of ReserveServers) then the
"Switch Users" menu will see the other sessions, but selecting one to
switch to also has no result.

Does the "Switch User" command generally work OK for others on
FreeBSD? Is there some configuration setting that is necessary to make
it work?
