That can't very well be, since the the font part in the Theme Manager and the fonts kcontrol module are in fact the same program (try clicking on Fonts in the Theme Manager when you already have the fonts kcontrol module running). Apart from that, you will need to restart your KDE session (and therefore your X session) after adding new fonts. In theory that shouldn't be necessary, but the current limitations in X's font support make it a requirement.
