Hello KDE on FreeBSD Team,

I am Anton Velev, I am using KDE since 1.1.2 version, and FreeBSD since 4.8. I am actially ex-Linux user.

I've successfully built and configured diskless Desktop, based on FreeBSD and KDE. And I'd like to share this experience by contributing an article. What makes it amazing is that everything just works (finally), exactly the same way as it was working when having HDD, after many unexpected issues.

I am also willing to contribute (in a collaboration eventaully with you guys, or some other BSD guys), some scripts and config files (or patches to them), that would make it possible for everyone to do the same.

My configuration is FreeBSD 5.4 and KDE 3.4.2. All the KDE apps I tested work just fine, including the xine-based video played in Noatun, other (non-kde) apps that also fully work are openoffice.org-2.0.beta2, mozilla-1.7.11_1,2, firefox-1.0.6_5,1, jdk-1.4.2p7_1, gaim-1.5.0, xmms-esound-1.2.10_4.

Attached is a screenshot of my working diskless KDE, showing konsole with all the mounts.

If you are interested in contribution of 1) article, 2) scripts & config files, please let me know.

Note: I am not sure if I am contacting the right guy using this email ([EMAIL PROTECTED]), so if you are not, please forward me to the right guy. Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Anton

PS: Thanks for all your efforts for porting KDE to FreeBSD!
