That's rather unlikely, given that kgamma was never part of kdebase (at
least as far as I remember). Perhaps you still had the old standalone
port of kgamma installed?

No. Did you by chance upgrade from a rather old version of KDE (pre
3.4.0) and missed the respective upgrading instructions in UPDATING?
That would very well explain all sorts of funkyness (we try to define
CONFLICTS so that naive portupgrade attempts will error out before
anything gets deleted, but I see that kdegraphics has no CONFLICTS with
the old standalone kgamma declared).

In any case, reinstalling kdegraphics should put the Gamma Control back
in place.
