There's the rub. Especially during the window where the old kdelibs
installation has been deleted and the new version has not been installed
yet, it's very very easy to make *any* KDE application crash, including
text editors, office applications and similar things where valuable data
is easily lost.
So yes, stick to Bartosz' method if you want to keep KDE running during
KDE upgrades.
