I didn't have a problem. I downgraded my lua a couple of days ago, and 
kwrite started working again. I updated kdemultimedia today, and 
everything still works. avahi is not installed.

I can't find where avahi requires lua-5.1 either. I just built avahi and 
it didn't want lua-5.1. I suspect something is wrong with your ports 
tree.
