I commented out the line in the Makefile and it installs fine, at least without any error messages. Any comments on this?
The port was marked broken because of an incorrect plist. Thus, it installs and runs fine, but it will not uninstall cleanly (it will probably leave behind some files).
On FreeBSD, there is no concept of a "stable" ports branch. Each port is maintained in ports trunk only where port fixes are mixed with updates. So, the correct way to get a working kde3-i18n-es is to upgrade your ports to trunk, even when you are running 6.1-RELEASE. You should keep tracking ports trunk as this will give you security updates for the installed ports.
