I'm running FreeBSD 6.1 with kdenetwork-lanbrowsing-3.5.3 and keep getting a problem where no machines are visible in Lan Browsing in Konqueror.

Typing a machine name in the URL bar gives an error message that the lisa daemon isn't running but a check with ps(1) shows that it is. Restarting the lisa daemon gets the FreeBSD boxes listed under Lan Browsing but not the Windows boxes. I can browse the FreeBSD boxes using either NFS or SMB but, again, typing the name of a Windows box in the URL bar gives the lisa not running error.

These error messages, which appear in the console every 10 minutes, seem to be the reason:

Aug 21 15:31:34 redshift inetd[704]: netbios-ns/udp: bind: Address already in use Aug 21 15:31:34 redshift inetd[704]: netbios-ssn/tcp: bind: Address already in use Aug 21 15:41:34 redshift inetd[704]: netbios-ns/udp: bind: Address already in use Aug 21 15:41:34 redshift inetd[704]: netbios-ssn/tcp: bind: Address already in use Aug 21 15:51:34 redshift inetd[704]: netbios-ns/udp: bind: Address already in use Aug 21 15:51:34 redshift inetd[704]: netbios-ssn/tcp: bind: Address already in use

These also appear every 10 minutes although I don't think that they are related (CUPS is installed but not set up):

Aug 21 15:55:39 redshift smbd[528]: [2006/08/21 15:55:39, 0] printing/print_cups.c:cups_cache_reload(85) Aug 21 15:55:39 redshift smbd[528]: Unable to connect to CUPS server localhost - Connection refused Aug 21 15:55:39 redshift smbd[528]: [2006/08/21 15:55:39, 0] printing/print_cups.c:cups_cache_reload(85) Aug 21 15:55:39 redshift smbd[528]: Unable to connect to CUPS server localhost - Connection refused Aug 21 15:55:39 redshift smbd[66905]: [2006/08/21 15:55:39, 0] smbd/notify_fam.c:fam_notify_init(455) Aug 21 15:55:39 redshift smbd[66905]: FAM file change notifications not available

'bind: Address already in use' seems to imply that I have specified an incorrect IP address somewhere but I've been unable to find it.

BTW, I can ping the Windows boxes.

Can anyone shed any light on what is wrong?

Thanks.

Mark
