sddm failure

Hi,

I had been using x11/sddm as my login manager until recently. After an 
update, I'm able to login but after that, it goes into a loop with Xorg 
reporting:

(EE) xf86OpenConsole: VT_SETMODE VT_PROCESS failed(EE)

and Xorg restarting until sddm is killed. Switching to slim avoids it 
for now, and startx works fine, so it seems to be something sddm specific.

Any suggestions on what may be causing this or how to avoid it?
