We aren't using git-svn to do the import and, last I checked, git supports shallow checkouts so you don't have to pull everything that is in the server's .git/objects directory anyway. As a user, I just hope all the KDE developers keep this in mind when they decide it is time for KDE 5. KDE 4 is still painful compared to KDE 3 for some users.
