This is where gitorious thought ahead; they have a post hook that makes a connection to a remote machine and tells it the latest changes. The idea is that KDE sets up a service that only the gitorious machine can connect to and we write code that then does all the compilcated stuff and the mail sending etc on our own machine. This solves a lot of "he said she said" and "who maintains what" and naturally the "gitorious is slow!" problems.
