This would imply you are rewriting history; if you do the above I suggest you just don't convert the old history and just start fresh. It would have practically the same effect as you would never be able to get back to a state where things compiled as they were before the conversion > I think that's easier than writing svn2git rules for possibly every file in > those shared subdirectories you mentioned.
