FWIW, a dedicated library -- if feasible -- would be my preferred option, as 
well, since that would be usable in places where Nepomuk might not be easily 
deployed, e.g. advanced Akonadi scenarios on servers & other devices.

I also agree the results of this should then be fully usable by Nepomuk to 
gain all the advantages that has.
