--- Comment #87 from davidblunkett <dav1dblunk...@hotmail.com> --- Yet another comment moaning about the stale nature of this bug follows: I really don't understand why this has been allowed to fester for so long by the KDE developers. A capable email system is an essential component of a desktop system and that means working with key email providers (which gmail is). I realise there is an inelegant kludge to get around this problem but it comes at a cost of constant whinging from google about security and the kludge is not a fit way for regular lay users to use email. Leaving this to fester is sticking two fingers up to friendly computing and saying to non-technically savvy users "find a better OS". When they find a better OS, the critical mass for KDE will **** off and it will wither. That's a shame because I quite like KDE. This rant comes from me having to fix yet another lay users' kmail, spend an hour arsing around with kmail and akonadi, putting up with gmail's whinging etc. I think next time the answer will be a more cared for desktop. Lay users cannot be arsed with this and they will go elsewhere. Perhaps we shouldn't care but it seems sad if we don't. Replies that say "it's in google's hands" don't count, the rest of the world seems to be able to work it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
