I'm experiencing the same issue (on Mandriva Cooker, KDE SC 4.4.2). Akonadi is
unable to start due to another issue (Launchpad #554660, haven't investigated
further yet), and I receive no graphical error message of any kind. Kmail hangs
when pressing the Send button.
