Maybe not so fast ;-) I've been wanting to update this bug report for a while but kept procrastinating ;-) If you have your calendar or contacts on a remote server (I use http://www.memotoo.com ) Kontact syncs on close spawning off a KIO process which can take up to a couple of minutes to complete. Until the KIO process has finished the Kontact process is still alive, although idle. If you quit Kontact and then log out before the syncing is complete it will be started by the SM on next login but fail with an error saying something like "Kontact seems to be running in another process."
