This has been fixed in the codebase for long. Most problems with sending email now will be much more specific. I try to adapt the title better so that this report is not found as often. For you I recommend to first report the issue to your GNU distribution and packagers to exclude problems there. Once packaging and setup issues are rules out, a report here in a new issue is really appreciated!
