            Bug ID: 298202
          Severity: major
           Version: 4.8.x
          Priority: NOR
                CC: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
          Assignee: to...@kde.org
           Summary: All contacts Lost on upgrade from 4.8.1 to 4.8.2
    Classification: Unclassified
                OS: Linux
          Reporter: upsc...@nwi.net
          Hardware: openSUSE RPMs
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
         Component: contacts
           Product: kontact

openSUSE 12.1 (3.1.9-1.4-desktop)
KDE 4.8.2
Kontact 4.8.2
Kmail 4.8.2
Contacts 4.8.2

Installed 4.8.2 this last weekend. Yesterday I went to send to a contact
group in Kontact-Kmail2 and noticed all the contacts within the groups were
missing.
Looking at .local/share/contacts the .ctg files are still there and contain
pointers. Below are just a few from one group:

  Code
--------------
<contactReference uid="10084"/>
<contactReference uid="10218"/>
<contactReference uid="10062"/>
<contactReference uid="10061"/>
  /Code
-------------

I readded names to smallest group and they contacts for that group now
appear under the group in both Contact and Kmail2. The groups which I have not
restored yet, have the correct number of pointers. Looks like the update
destroyed the link between the contactreference UID and what its pointing to.
Where is it pointing to. I am using the internal mysql database ( at least I
think it is and not the sqlite one) as I have not been able to get my external
one working with contacts.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Reported on Novell Bugzilla-Bug #756469

They asked me to report this upstream.

Thanks
