Its when you shut down kmail that you will see it hammering the imap resource
hammering the imap server.  If you only have one email account it will be
obvious which account it is hammering.  Otherwise, its very difficult to tell.
I can watch the log on my in-house mail server (cyrus imap), but that is the
only one I can see.

Passwords in kde-wallet are strewn in three different places, under imap, under
kmail, and under mailtransports.  Which ones are you deleting?
