We also assign IP addresses via option 82 for some management IP addresses so we’ve ran into the same problem since switching to kea. There isn’t another pool setup on this network so the client just continuously tries to pull an IP.
We have a script that watches the log files for “ALLOC_ENGINE_V4_DISCOVER_ADDRESS_CONFLICT” and then deletes the IP from the lease database. Afterwards the client is able to pull that IP address associated with their option 82 value. It works, but it seems like there has to be a better way. From: Kea-users On Behalf Of DDFR | Ronald Blaas Sent: Wednesday, September 3, 2025 9:16 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [EXTERNAL] [Kea-users] Expire single IP Hi all I was wondering if we could expire a single ip address after 1 hour (or maybe less) The reason for this is we have a port on which we connect different devices but the same IP address (is assigned via Option82) With the IP address in the database it is locked so the second device gets an IP from the pool. Ofcourse we can release the IP but I was wondering if this can be automated so the the IP is Expired sooner Kind regard, Ronald CAUTION: This email originated from outside of the organization.
