KOLEJ UNITI TAKES STAKE IN BONDAMAMA
PORT DICKSON, Dec 3 (Bernama) -- Kolej UNITI (www.uniti.edu.my) today signed an agreement with Bondamama Sdn Bhd (BondaMama) www.bondamama.com to take a 70 per cent stake in its kindergartens and nurseries. Kolej UNITI was represented at the ceremony by its Dean, Faculty of Education and Human Development, Ahmad Shafiai Uda Jaafar, while BondaMama founder Ameer Soekre Ishak signed for the company. The event was witnessed by Kolej UNITI President Jamal Md Amin. Speaking to reporters, Jamal said the initiative was in line with Kolej UNITI's desire to produce entrepreneurs from among its students. He said the strategic partnership between Kolej UNITI and BondaMama will see the establishment of more kindergartens and nurseries under the latter's name, based on the concept of "helping boys and nurturing girls", throughout the country. "This initiative is also in line with the government's plan to have almost 4,000 kindergartens and nurseries by 2015. We chose BondaMama as it not only has 70 branches throughout th e country but also a 'flexible' concept. "At the same time, it has wide experience in the children's early education field as well as the management of kindergartens and nurseries. "The opportunity for students to involve themselves in the field of entrepreneurship is very wide and it depends on them. "Our 400 students will finish their pre-school diploma studies next year and those interested can enter this field of entrepreneurship. "We are looking at just 20 per cent of them be ing interested, with the others going on to further their studies. "BondaMama and Kolej UNITI are using the licensing concept at present but from next year, we will open it up to franchising. Through the micro franchise concept, we will give opportunities to entrepreneurs or operators to receive funding of RM50,000 from Perbadanan Nasional Bhd (PNB) to start their own kindergartens of nurseries," he added. Meanwhile, Ameer Soekre said BombaMama has vast experience in developing modules for early childhood education. "BondaMama Kids Centre has a learning module specially developed for children from the ages of 0 to 6 years, while creating a unique learning method called, Elly Teacher method," he added. -- BERNAMA
