Equity Alert: Key Asian indices end mixed; financial shares decline
MUMBAI--3:07PM--Key Asian markets ended mixed today, with
financial
shares falling as uncertainty about the U.S. government's bailout
package for
the financial sector weighed.
United Overseas Bank and Industrial & Commercial Bank of China
slid 2%
and 4%, respectively.
Airline shares declined, with Singapore Airlines and Air China
falling 1%
and 5%, respectively, following a sharp rise in global crude oil
prices.
Energy shares like CNOOC, however, benefited from the surge in
price of
the commodity.
Markets in Japan were closed on account of Autumn Equinox.
