Siemens reported a steep drop in standalone net profit for the quarter ended September 2008. During the quarter, the profit of the company declined 27.03% to Rs 2,251.94 million from Rs 3,086.26 million in the same quarter previous year.
Net sales for the quarter rose 12.57% to Rs 24,636.17 million, while total income for the quarter rose 9.96% to Rs 24,656.85 million, when compared with the prior year period. The company posted earnings of Rs 6.68 a share during the quarter, registering 63.52% decline over prior year period. Siemens is the 55% Indian subsidiary of Siemens (Q, N,C,F)* AG, Germany is a leader in the electrical and electronic engineering sector. Shares of the company declined Rs 13.95, or 4.95%, to settle at Rs 268. The total volume of shares traded was 233,724 at the BSE (Tuesday).
