Petroleum & Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), the downstream regulator in the oil & gas sector, has authorised Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) to supply compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG) in the national capital territory (NCT). IGL is a joint venture of state-owned companies GAIL India and Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) and the Delhi government.
"IGL has been granted exclusivity for implementing city gas distribution network in the entire NCT of Delhi from PNGRB," the company said in a statement. As per the PNGRB regulations, marketing exclusivity for existing central government authorised entities is for a period of three years and network exclusivity for them is for twenty five years. As per plans submitted to the board, IGL targets to take the number of domestic PNG connections from 132,000 to 237,000 by 2011-12. The CNG compression capacity is targeted to increase to 36 lakh kg/day from the current figure of 23.76 lakh kg/day while the length of steel pipeline is proposed to be increased from current 824 inch Km to 1100 inch Km by 2011-12. http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/News/IGL_to_supply_CNG_PNG_in_national_capital_territory/articleshow/3938627.cms ekamber Smooth Roads Never Make Good Drivers.
