*Engineers India*, a government of India undertaking disclosed a small rise
in standalone net profit for the quarter ended December 2008 marked by a
steep rise in sales. During the quarter, the profit of the company rose
37.12% to Rs 689.05 million from Rs 502.50 million in the same quarter
previous year.

Net sales for the quarter rose 2.98 times to Rs 5,284.69 million, while
total income for the quarter jumped 2.77 times to Rs 5,716.81 million, when
compared with the prior year period.

The company reported earnings of Rs 12.27 a share during the quarter,
registering 37.09% growth over previous year period.

During the quarter, the operating margin of the company dropped to 12.17%
compared with 27.42% in the previous year period. Depreciation cost rose
21.70% to Rs 27.14 million over previous year period.
