*Mahanagar Telephone Nigam* disclosed a substantial drop in standalone net profit for the quarter ended December 2008. During the quarter, the profit of the company declined 40.32% to Rs 582.72 million from Rs 976.38 million in the same quarter previous year.
Net sales declined marginally 3.79% to Rs 11,447.03 million, while total income for the quarter rose 5.84% to Rs 14,044.53 million, when compared with the prior year period.
