TOKYO: Japan's Nikkei stock average rose 1.5 per cent on Monday after US stocks powered to new highs for the year on growing reassurance about the prospects for a global economic recovery, while Nippon Oil climbed after oil rose over $1.
Convenience store operator Lawson Inc and drugstore chain Matsumotokiyoshi Holdings Co Inc were untraded and overwhelmed with buy orders after a source with knowledge of the matter said the two plan to jointly open stores combining the two retail formats.
