Metal stocks shine on firm prices on LME The BSE Metal index was up 0.97% at 15,959.71 and was the second best performer among the sectoral indices on the BSE. It outperformed the Sensex, which was up 0.50% at 16,272.67
Hindalco Industries (up 2.57%), Steel Authority of India (up 1.28%), Sterlite Industries (up 0.19%), Hindustan Zinc (up 1.15%), Jindal Steel & Power (up 1.48%), National Aluminium Company (up 1.31%), Tata Steel (up 0.75%), and JSW Steel (up 1.12%), edged higher. The BSE Metal had underperformed the market over the past one month till 19 February 2010, falling 11.47% as compared to the Sensexs 7.40% fall.
