The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) is one of a network of the Consultative 
Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). As a global leader in 
agroforestry research and development, ICRAF’s ultimate purpose is to improve 
human welfare by reducing poverty, increasing cash income, improving food and 
nutritional security, and increasing environmental resilience through improved 
agroforestry systems. ICRAF has it’s headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya and works 
in 21 countries throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America. 
  
In 1993, the World Agroforestry Centre opened a program for Southeast Asia with 
Bogor, in Indonesia, as its regional headquarters.   We currently work in five 
Southeast Asian countries including Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam 
and China. 
  
The Position 
  
The Functional Unit Assistant will be under direct supervision of the Spatial 
Analysis Unit & Agroforest Management Unit. The incumbent will be expected to 
undertake secretarial work in an effective and efficient way. 
  
Duties and Responsibilities: 
The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following tasks: 
Nature of Position 
To provide administrative and communication services to program managers and 
the team, and to help coordinate activities among the team and partners, to 
ensure smooth implementation of program activities. 
  
Responsibilities 
  
-          Develop, implement and maintain an effective communication among 
project partners, donors, field office, and other partners related to ICRAF 
research, development and capacity building activities undertaken by Spatial 
Analysis Unit (SAU) and Agroforest Management Unit (AMU). 
-          Liaise between the SAU and AMU related partners, field staff, Bogor 
based scientists, Bogor Administration and Management Services, consultants and 
other institutions. 
-          Assist functional unit staff in technical planning and 
implementation of project activities, including workshops, trainings and 
cross-visits. 
-          Assist functional unit staff in the analysis, interpretation, 
preparation of reports, publications and presentations. 
-          Regularly update information at functional unit and project web 
pages and databases in consultation with relevant staff. 
-          Carry out other official assignments as approved or instructed by 
relevant unit leaders. 
  
Qualifications and Skills Required: 
  
Must have at least the following qualifications and capacities: 
·         Bachelor degree (S1) in natural science or secretarial training. 
·         Minimum 4 (four) years of professional experience in development 
related work. 
·         Willing to travel to the field. 
·         Ability to work as a member in multi-culture and multi-disciplinary 
team. 
·         Familiar with standard window programs and internet operations (MS 
word, excel, publisher, power point, etc.). 
·         Fluency in English with good verbal and written communication. 
·         Good communication skills. 
  
Terms of offer 
  

This is a Nationally Professional Fixed Term position with a competitive salary 
and benefits package.
The contract is for an initial period of 1 (one) year, with possibility of 
renewal, subject to a 3 (three) months probation period, assessment of 
performance, and availability of resources.
