Participants will gain a better understanding of the factors that determine the vulnerability of the different sectors of society. They will be guided in preparing an action plan on risk management that can be applied in their respective contexts. Objectives After completing the training, the participant is expected to: 1. Discuss the concepts, methods and procedures of risk analysis; 2. Apply risk analysis to determine vulnerable and risk-prone areas and systems and identify risk-efficient alternatives; 3. Assess and compare the applicability of various response options to adapt, mitigate, or cope with the different sources of risks; and 4. Formulate and develop an action plan for addressing risks due to weather and climate in agricultural production systems, as applicable to their context or sphere of influence. Intended Participants Those actively involved in sustainable agriculture and rural development, natural resource management, and disaster and risk management (DRM), specifically: 1. Government planners and technical staff at the regional, national and local levels; 2. Researchers and practitioners from centers of excellence; and 3. Representatives and staff of regional or national non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
