Hello all, we would like to announce, that Kepler was recently introduced to wide audience during two events related to high performance computations:
- GridKa school 2009 - Karlsruhe (Germany) - http://gks09.fzk.de/ - EFDA ITM meeting - Juelich (Germany) - http://itm2009.efda-itm.eu/agenda.php There were four tutorials (hand-on) conducted by us personally. These tutorial presented Kepler's features as well as Java API 4 HPC/GRID. Each tutorial lasted more than four hours and was meant to provide users with both: basic usage of Kepler and to present complex workflows related to HPC/GRID. If it comes to Java API 4 HPC/GRID it is meant to provide Kepler users with ability for job management during GRID and HPC computations. During ITM meeting we have successfully integrated with HPC machine at Juelich (JUMP - http://www.fz-juelich.de/jsc/jump) using UNICORE middleware. We have also managed to present one of the features of Java API 4 HPC/GRID - ability to utilize HPC and GRID resources within single workflow. During these two events, more than 90 people were working with Kepler building simple workflows, getting knowledge regarding loops, ifs, and composite actors. Users were also presented with ability to use HPC/GRID machines directly from the Kepler. You can find tutorial related information at following locations: http://scilla.man.poznan.pl/GridKa2009 http://scilla.man.poznan.pl/ITMJulich2009 If you are interested with any information related to EUFORIA project or Java API 4 HPC/GRID feel free to visit our Wiki: http://scilla.man.poznan.pl:8080/confluence And last, but not least. We would like to thank all the people who have contributed to the to topics that we have posted at [kepler-dev] and [kepler-users] groups (David Welker, Matt Jones, et al.) - many of your suggestions helped us a lot. We would like also thank Daniel Crawl who was primary contact for us when it comes to support during Kepler related development. Thanks again Regards Michal Owsiak and Marcin Plociennik -- Michal Owsiak <michalo at man.poznan.pl> Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center ul.
