Is pam_krb5 linked against the same Kerberos library as openssh? If you're building OpenSSH from source, it's possible that you're picking up Umich's broken libgssapi (which is there for NFSv4 support), and not the MIT Kerberos libgssapi_krb5 (RedHat's spec file has a hack to avoid this). Check that you're linking against the correct GSSAPI library, too.
