Distributed revision system generally mean more merging not less. But in the 
end it's really up to clear organisation between branches and repositories that 
minimalises headaches.

What's important is the:
 - large refactorings, keeping the history of moves and copies
 - release branches and production environment tags
 - file properties (svn propget ...)"
