penalvch: I have not been experiencing this bug since 13.04 was released, maybe even 12.10. So I think the issue probably doesn't remain in any development releases. I say this because I'd rather not install a development release on my only computer, especially since I don't know how to reliably trigger the issue. Hopefully that's good enough though, since the issue seems to be fixed.
I am now running a fully-upgraded 13.10 (with latest kernel for 13.10), with extra packages from that big GNOME3 PPA as well. So the issue seems to have resolved itself.
