** Description changed: Wireless card no longer working under Linux 3.0.x after upgrade from 11.04 to 11.10, system is an HP 2000 laptop with Realtek RTL8188CE card. Hardware switch(driver?) for wireless no longer operates. Under 11.04 with 2.6.38.x kernel functionality was correct (except having to toggle button two times to set to on). The switch never operates, even when booting kernel where it could be invoked with 2.6 kernel transiently before system is fully up. Switching back to 2.6.38 kernel restores operation, with the side effect of suspend not working due to other software/kernel issues (this results in a locked blank screen that can only be fixed by removing all power/battery first). + --- + ApportVersion: 2.12-0ubuntu3 + Architecture: amd64 + AudioDevicesInUse: + USER PID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/controlC0: ubuntu 2647 F.... pulseaudio + ubuntu 4498 F.... pulseaudio + CasperVersion: 1.336 + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 + LiveMediaBuild: Ubuntu 13.10 "Saucy Salamander" - Alpha amd64 (20130819) + MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP 2000 Notebook PC + MarkForUpload: True + Package: linux (not installed) + ProcFB: 0 radeondrmfb + ProcKernelCmdLine: file=/cdrom/preseed/username.seed boot=casper initrd=/casper/initrd.lz quiet splash -- maybe-ubiquity + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-2.5-generic 3.11.0-rc5 + RelatedPackageVersions: + linux-restricted-modules-3.11.0-2-generic N/A + linux-backports-modules-3.11.0-2-generic N/A + linux-firmware 1.113 + Tags: saucy + Uname: Linux 3.11.0-2-generic x86_64 + UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) + UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo + dmi.bios.date: 06/08/2011 + dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard + dmi.bios.version: F.26 + dmi.board.asset.tag: Base Board Asset Tag + dmi.board.name: 3577 + dmi.board.vendor: Hewlett-Packard + dmi.board.version: 24.23 + dmi.chassis.asset.tag: Chassis Asset Tag + dmi.chassis.type: 10 + dmi.chassis.vendor: Hewlett-Packard + dmi.chassis.version: Chassis Version + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnHewlett-Packard:bvrF.26:bd06/08/2011:svnHewlett-Packard:pnHP2000NotebookPC:pvr0587100000204A10002620100:rvnHewlett-Packard:rn3577:rvr24.23:cvnHewlett-Packard:ct10:cvrChassisVersion: + dmi.product.name: HP 2000 Notebook PC + dmi.product.version: 0587100000204A10002620100 + dmi.sys.vendor: Hewlett-Packard ** Attachment added: "AlsaInfo.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/874229/+attachment/3778402/+files/AlsaInfo.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/874229 Title: Realtek RTL8188CE WiFi not working under Linux 3.0.x in 11.10 Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Wireless card no longer working under Linux 3.0.x after upgrade from 11.04 to 11.10, system is an HP 2000 laptop with Realtek RTL8188CE card.
